Discover who we are, what drives us, and the purpose that fuels our mission.
As Brothers Against Poverty, our goal is to leave a lasting and meaningful impact on our community by addressing the critical issues of hunger and food insecurity. We are committed to helping every struggling individual we encounter, whether through organizing food drives, hosting informational events, or dedicating countless hours to hands-on volunteer efforts. Our work goes beyond just providing meals—we strive to raise awareness, inspire compassion, and create sustainable solutions that empower those in need.
We firmly believe that hunger is a significant challenge, but one that can be eradicated through the collective efforts of a united community. While we are an ambitious group of students, we share a vision of a world where hunger is no longer a reality—where no one has to worry about their next meal, and where food insecurity is something entirely unheard of. Together, through education, outreach, and collaboration, we hope to turn this vision into a tangible reality for future generations.
Who are we?
We’re cousins from Bangladesh, a country where poverty and hunger impact countless families every day. Growing up, we often heard stories from our parents about those hardships—stories that deeply shaped our values and perspectives. Inspired by those experiences, we felt a strong responsibility to take action against food insecurity—not only in our homeland, but right here in our local community. That’s why we founded Brothers Against Poverty—a mission-driven initiative built on family, compassion, and the belief that we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we’re working to build a stronger, more compassionate community for everyone.
With immigrant parents from poverty-stricken Bangladesh, we’ve always understood the urgency of hunger faced by many worldwide. Our organization began during a National Honor Society project at North County High School, where I saw firsthand how food insecurity impacts families in our community. Motivated by this experience and our background, I shared my vision with like-minded peers, and together we committed to tackling this issue with compassion. This shared goal became the foundation of Brothers Against Poverty.

A special thanks to the United Nations for inspiring us to create change in our local community. Discovering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) showed me a path to turn my dream of helping others into action. The 17 goals provide clear focuses and reflections to guide progress. Through this framework, I realized that, together with my friends, we have the power to make a real difference in our community.
