Current projects
To support the pantry, we reached out to local businesses and department stores, who generously contributed supplies and resources. Thanks to their support, we were able to secure proper shelving and curate a diverse and nutritious selection of food items, making the pantry both welcoming and well-stocked for students in need.
With the permission of Principal Sarah Thomas, we are creating the very first Emergency Food Pantry at North County High School, accessible to over 1,300 students who qualify for free and reduced meals. This pantry will provide immediate, discreet support to students facing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals when they need it most. Our goal is to foster a supportive school community where no student has to worry about hunger interfering with their learning and well-being. We are proud to take this important step toward ending hunger locally and empowering students to succeed.
We sincerely thank our partners at Community Schools for their invaluable support and assistance throughout this project. Their collaboration has been essential to our success.
At local mosques, we are organizing a community initiative to support nearby homeless shelters. Donation boxes will be placed around the mosque campuses to collect food contributions, which will be regularly gathered and distributed to local shelters in need.
Some of our future plans
Brothers Against Poverty plans to collaborate with local organizations and businesses to host food drives at schools throughout the North County cluster to provide essential food items for local fmilies in need.
Every year, over 60 million tons of food are wasted by grocery stores and fast-food chains. We plan to collect untouched non-perishable goods and fresh produce, redistributing them to local food shelters and individuals facing financial hardship.
